Cuomo said he wants the task force to advise state officials on the safety and effectiveness of any vaccine because Americans don’t trust how President Donald Trump’s administration has handled the pandemic.
“I think the way we have handled Covid has been a model for the country,” Cuomo said of New York’s response to the virus. “I think we should do the same thing with vaccines. We should be a model for the country.”
Cuomo added, “The state is going to take the lead on this because the federal government has shown they are incompetent on this issue.”
DJT:
He doesn’t trust where the vaccines are coming from,” Trump went on to say about Cuomo. “[He] will have to let us know when he’s ready for it, otherwise we, we can’t be delivering it to a state that won’t be giving it to its people, immediately. And I know many, I know the people in New York very well, I know they want it. So the governor will let us know when he’s ready,” he added.
CUOMO:
Cuomo fired back, telling CNN on Friday that “none of what” Trump said “is true.”
“We are ready to distribute it,” he said, according to Politico. “The only problem could be if a scientific panel from my state or one of the other states reviewed the FDA approval process and said something was wrong.”
Gov. Ralph Northam (D-VA) announced new coronavirus restrictions on Friday that will take effect in Virginia on Sunday, Nov. 15.

Additionally, violations of the governor’s face covering and social distancing guidelines by essential retail businesses can now be enforced through the Virginia Department of Health as a class 1 misdemeanor.

A new study just published in the New England Journal of Medicine strongly suggests that this method of screening is virtually ineffective in far too many cases. They tracked the testing of almost 2,000 Marine Corps recruits who were entering basic training. All were given temperature checks and grilled about whether or not they may have come in contact with any infected individuals. All but a handful of the recruits who went on to test positive after a nasal swab were unaware of having been exposed and had normal body temperatures. In other words, nearly all of them were asymptomatic carriers who appeared otherwise quite healthy and the screening methods being used only identified a small percentage of them. (CBS New York)

AMERICANS HAVE THE RIGHT TO KNOW IF SOMEONE IS IN THE HOSPITAL WITH OR BECAUSE OF CHINAVIRUS GOTDAMIT!
News reports this week have declared a sky-high record of COVID-19 hospitalizations throughout the United States. But these accounts have ignored a critical signifier of that public health metric, failing to distinguish the number of patients hospitalized directly because of COVID from those who merely test positive for the disease while in the hospital for other treatment.
Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot (D) on Thursday issued a stay-at-home order and called on residents to cancel their “traditional” Thanksgiving plans as part of an effort to combat the spread of coronavirus.
As I have long said, @Pfizer and the others would only announce a Vaccine after the Election, because they didn’t have the courage to do it before. Likewise, the @US_FDA should have announced it earlier, not for political purposes, but for saving lives!

Gounder said, “I’m really frightened by the spike that we’re seeing in cases right now, and we know very well that hospitalizations and deaths will follow. The faster we as a country — you know, we as citizens can take this into our own hands and do what we know the science says will work. And the sooner we take responsibility for our own actions, we mask up, we socially distance, we ventilate, we go in for testing, we cooperate with contact tracing, the sooner that we all do all of those things, the sooner we can curve the transmission, the sooner we can return to a semi-normal life.”

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends Americans host Thanksgiving Dinner virtually or outdoors during the coronavirus pandemic.
“Celebrating virtually or with members of your own household (who are consistently taking measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19) poses the lowest risk for spread,” the CDC announced in a new list of recommendations for celebrating Thanksgiving in 2020.
The guidance suggests Americans schedule a time to share a meal together virtually over a computer, rather than invite people to their homes.
“Have people share recipes and show their turkey, dressing, or other dishes they prepared,” the list recommends.
The guidance also encourages Americans to just stay at home, watch sports and movies, or “find a fun game to play.” Another option is to leave a meal on the front porch of a neighbor or a loved one, rather than meet them for the holiday.
If Americans do risk hosting an in-person meal with people outside of their household, the CDC recommends it be held outdoors or inside with the windows open.

More research on cloth masks is needed to inform their use as an alternative to surgical masks/respirators in the event of shortage or high-demand situations. To our knowledge, only 1 randomized controlled trial has been conducted to examine the efficacy of cloth masks in healthcare settings, and the results do not favor use of cloth masks.
More randomized controlled trials should be conducted in community settings to test the efficacy of cloth masks against respiratory infections.
Now a new, peer-reviewed study in the International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents may add fuel to a fire that seemed to be burning out. The study finds that outpatients with the coronavirus who were treated with hydroxychloroquine combined with zinc and the antibiotic azithromycin were less likely to be hospitalized. Fewer than 3% of outpatients who took the drug regimen ended up in the hospital versus 15% who did not take it.

any or most of the 220,000 deaths in the United States to date could have been prevented by widespread HCQ use that the FDA blocked. It is the FDA that is responsible for these deaths, not the president. It is sheer corrupt hypocrisy, and completely shameful, for past FDA commissioners and for a New England Journal of Medicine editor with ties to the FDA to accuse the president of what the FDA itself has done.
