Kathy Hochul, the Commissioner of Health for New York State, and the New York State Department of Health overstepped their authority by mandating the COVID-19 vaccine for NY\u2019s healthcare workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Neri noted in his ruling that the vaccine mandate was not authorized by state public health law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The court sided with a lawsuit that was brought in October and struck down the health order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The lawsuit was filed by Medical Professionals for Informed Consent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The judge also slammed the state for claiming that taking mRNA shots is a \u201cpublic health\u201d issue rather than a personal medical decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn true Orwellian fashion, the Respondents acknowledge then-current COVID-19 shots do not prevent transmission,\u201d Judge Neri wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The New York\u2019s Department of Health issued a statement in response to say that it is \u201cexploring all options\u201d moving forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe requirement is a critical public health tool,\u201d the agency said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A state Supreme Court judge has shut down New York\u2019s Covid vaccine mandate, blasting the order as \u201cOrwellian\u201d and ruling that the order is \u201cnull, void, and of no effect.\u201d Judge Gerard Neri ruled that Democrat Gov.
