Its customers use pre-built website templates and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Drag_and_drop\">drag and drop<\/a>\u00a0elements to create webpages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anthony Casalena developed Squarespace as a blog-hosting service while attending the University of Maryland. He founded it as a company in 2004, and was its only employee until 2006, when it reached $1 million in revenue. The company grew from 30 employees in 2010 to 550 by 2015. By 2014, it raised a total of $78.5 million in venture capital; added\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/E-commerce\">e-commerce<\/a>\u00a0tools,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Domain_name\">domain name<\/a>\u00a0services, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Web_analytics\">analytics<\/a>;
